TWS - Historic Photographs

Whitton Open Air School for Delicate Children was opened in 1930. These photographs date back from this era. Click on any of these photographs to see them full size.

We also have samples of the pages out of a Teacher's Record Book and Punishment Book that both date back to 1931.

	This is how Whitton Open Air School first began - outside.
	Country Dancing.
	School Dinner.
	The pupils took rest every day outside.
	Waking up in the orchard.

	Girls in the rose garden.
	Cookery with an open range.
	Boys learning to repair shoes.

	They had lessons indoors too.
	The school had two classes: Juniors and Seniors.
	Breakfast was given every day until 1967
	A restroom was built in 1955. It has now been partitioned into the school gym and Upper School ICT room.
	The school's 25th anniversary. The weathervane is still on top of the canteen.
